Our mission is advancing mental health, overcoming mental illness, and eliminating stigma. In many ways, public education is at the leading edge of the Foundation. Our programs are evidence-based, informed by our research findings, and at work in communities across the country. Research shows that mental health treatments help patients overcome the pain and devastation of mental illness and lead healthy, productive lives, but they can’t do so without critical access to services. Through our educational initiatives, Americans are increasingly seeing improved access to care. In complimentary fashion, the research of the Foundation is bridging the gap between the science base and the clinical practice of psychiatry furthering the field, while also drawing young psychiatrists to research careers through educational opportunities.
